1. Sleuth (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: On its own, I think the 2007 Sleuth has its moments, but it can’t quite emerge from the shadow of the original film. That one proves much more entertaining and makes it tough for the remake to stand for itself ... This is an acceptable release for a moderately enjoyable movie. Starring Michael Caine, Jude Law. Sony, $26.96, 3/11/2008.

3. Cold Mountain (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I can’t say that I felt surprised that I didn’t think much of Cold Mountain, since I didn’t care for the same director’s The English Patient. Since I did enjoy his Talented Mr. Ripley, I figured all wasn’t lost, but Mountain is much closer in spirit and story to Patient, and it also seems fairly sappy and inane. Starring Jude Law, Nicole Kidman. Miramax,

6. Alfie (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Rather than offer an interesting personality study, Alfie prefers to provide little more than a standard chick flick. It takes a lively and intriguing character and turns him into a wuss, all in the interest of “growth”. Bah - the movie just panders to a certain segment of the audience with its dull exposition. Starring Jude Law, Jane Krakowski. Paramoun

7. Closer: Superbit Edition (2004)
Reviewed by Brian Ludovico: I really enjoyed the film’s structure and very theatrical feel, and the performances alone are worth the price of admission. If you’re tired of the usual relationship tripe, Closer is certainly worth a shot. Starring Natalie Portman, Jude Law. Columbia TriStar, $28.95, 3/29/2005.

10. Gattaca [Blu-Ray] (1997)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a film, Gattaca offers a moving and intriguing experience. It delves more into ideas than action, which makes it unusual in this day and age, and it works quite well. Starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman. Sony, $17.97, 3/11/2008.
